When I think of Devon, I think of sandy beaches and the South West Coast Path. But there’s so much more to Devon, with both Dartmoor and Exmoor national parks featuring in the county. It’s a region of great variety, with coastal breezes, barren moorlands and some of Britain’s last remaining patches of temperate rain forest.

Mill End Hotel: possibly the most dog friendly hotel we’ve ever stayed in. Dogs receive a doggy welcome pack which includes treats, poo bags and a handy tag to add to their collar for the duration of your stay, and they’ll also be treated to a sausage at breakfast (unless you choose to leave them in your room, which you are welcome to do). Walks from the door take you along the river or onto the Castle Drogo Estate, and should your pup get muddy, the handy boot room includes fresh dog towels which you can help yourself too. Plus, the hotel is super luxurious for humans too!
