As people make their way north to the Highlands and Islands, they often overlook the Scottish Lowlands: something of a hidden gem in Scotland. With mighty rivers, beautiful beaches and several hills bigger than the fells of the Lake District (even if they don’t fall into the category of Munro), the Scottish Lowlands are an excellent choice for a dog friendly staycation.

Dog friendly accommodation in the Scottish Lowlands
Summerhill Farm Stays: one of two lodges on this stunning site on a working farm in Balmaclellan, Galloway, The Barn is the dog friendly option here. This studio style lodge sleeps 2 and welcomes 2 dogs, with a hot tub with incredible views over the Glenkens.
Lazyday Cottages: three Scandi-style log cabins, each with its own hot tub, in a great location for exploring both the Scottish Borders and the Northumberland Coast. Each cabin sleeps up to 4 people and welcomes 2 dogs.
Strathmaddie Farm Cottage: one of the best places we’ve ever stayed, with a huuuuge enclosed garden and super well equipped (you can always tell when the owners use a holiday cottage!). Located close to Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway, the cottage sleeps 2 and welcomes 2 dogs.
