I’m quite often asked about bits and pieces that I’d recommend for getting out and about in the outdoors, so I thought it would be handy to collate them all into a single place. I have a lot of stuff, so I’m going to mainly focus on the things which either I use on every walk we do, or items which I’ve had a lot of use out of and think are great!

Guide Books

You can find a lot of great walks online these days, but I like something I can hold in my hand while we’re out and about. I also think that routes which are included in a book that people are paying money for tend to be more reliably enjoyable and better researched, and not just a few footpaths someone’s thrown together on a whim! Below are some of the books I’ve purchased which I think have great routes.

Dog Gear

Walking with dogs requires a few extra bits and pieces such as hands free harnesses, doggy snacks and first aid kits. There’s a huge market for these products now, but I’ve linked to what we use below:

Human Gear

Clearly of secondary importance in my brain, there are a few bits and pieces that I take on walks for me instead of the dogs. From handy little boxes perfect for storing my preferred snack (strawberries) to bigger items like backpacks, all of the below items come on every trip away with us.
